CDP releases non-resident, indirect training numbers for May

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) this week released its non-resident and indirect training numbers for May.

The CDP conducted 40 non-resident courses for 806 responders and 68 indirect courses for 1,047 responders during the month, the release said.

Non-resident courses are delivered by contract CDP instructors at locations across the United States. Indirect courses are delivered by volunteer responders to others in their organization, community, or both. The volunteer responders must be graduates of the courses they instruct as well as that course’s associated train-the-trainer course.

Non-resident training during May included the Field Force Operations, Law Enforcement Protective Measures and Law Enforcement Response Actions courses delivered to responders in Suffolk County, New York; Newark, New Jersey; Charlotte and New Hanover, North Carolina; Harris County, Texas; and Los Angeles and Granada Hills, California.

Indirect training during May included the CDP’s Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents and Hazardous Materials Awareness courses delivered to responders in Biddeford, Maine; Akron, Ohio; Riverview, Florida; New Roads and River Ridge, Louisiana; Columbus, Kansas; St. Cloud, Minnesota; Greeley, Colorado; Sioux City, Iowa; and Spokane Valley, Washington.

Since opening in 1998, the CDP has trained more than 1.3 million responders. That number includes responders trained online; on the CDP’s campus in Anniston, Alabama; and at locations across the United States and its territories.
