CDP releases resident training numbers for September
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) recorded 2,052 course completions in September by students training at its campus in Anniston, Alabama. The month of training included Tribal Nations Training Week and Law Enforcement Theme Week.
The completions came through 67 resident deliveries, including Public Order and Public Safety: Basic (POPS-B), Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents (HCL), and Respiratory Protection: Program Development and Administration (RP) courses.
POPS-B trains law enforcement responders on protest types and actions, legal considerations, responsibilities of public order units, and crowd control methods. The course culminates in hands-on activities that allow students to practice learned skills in a realistic context.
HCL focuses on preparing healthcare leaders to make critical decisions in all-hazards disaster through emergency preparedness activities and hands-on exercises.
RP provides information and skills required to develop, implement, administer, and sustain a respiratory protection program fully compliant with the laws and regulations regarding emergency-response actions.
CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
