CDP schedules courses through February 2022

The Center for Domestic Preparedness recently finalized its resident course schedule through February 2022.

The CDP adds courses to its schedule monthly and typically has five months of courses on the calendar at any given time.

In October and November, the center will hold its first courses of the year focused exclusively on radiological materials, including the Radiological Series Train-the-Trainer Course – a four-day offering designed for individuals identified as instructors and trainers responsible for providing radiological training to those in their organizations.

The CDP’s popular Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) Course, which was recently updated to include the latest version of NFPA 1072 (the National Fire Protection Association’s Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications), will be offered nine times.

Meanwhile, the recently created Disaster Related Exposure Assessment and Monitoring (DREAM) Course will be offered twice – once in December and again in January. DREAM teaches responders to assess, monitor and track the health conditions of emergency responders and community members following incidents involving chemical, biological or radiological materials.

The full list of courses can be found on the center website at https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/resident.

The CDP trains first responders in 17 disciplines – including healthcare, hazardous materials, law enforcement and more – to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man-made hazards and disasters.

CDP training for state, local, tribal and territorial responders is fully funded by the Department of Homeland Security to include transportation, lodging and meals.
