CDP scores high in security assessment
FEMA’s Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO) recently conducted a facility risk assessment at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP).
The assessment verifies the center’s compliance with federal physical security operations guidance, which is designed to ensure the protection of employees, facilities and sensitive government information.
Facilities evaluated during the assessment, which is conducted about every two years, were the CDP’s Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF) and Responder Lodging Complex.
The center scored very well on the assessment, according to Brad Knight, the director of CDP Business Operations.
With a score of 99.1%, the COBRATF is considered a ‘model for security’ across FEMA, he said.
Meanwhile, the Responder Lodging Complex’s 89.4% rating was 23 points higher than its 2019 score, which the OCSO team said is rare, he said.
