CDP students participate in LE simulator

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is partnering with nearby Jacksonville State University (JSU) to showcase a training simulator for law enforcement officers.

Presented by the Center for Best Practices in Law Enforcement and located on a satellite JSU campus, VirTra’s V-300 firearms training simulator was the world’s first 300-degree reality-based training simulator.

The immersive training environment incorporates details from the smallest pre-attack indicators and is designed to teach, test, and sustain trainees’ and seasoned officers’ knowledge and skills. Equipped with extensive branching options, each scenario unfolds depending on the trainee’s communication and actions inside the simulator.

To date, more than 75 CDP students have participated in the VirTra simulation and many other non-law enforcement students have attended to observe – giving them valuable insight into what their law enforcement colleagues and classmates experience daily.
