CDP superintendent participates in DHS Chemical Defense Review
Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) Superintendent Tony Russell participated this week in the Department of Homeland Security’s third annual Chemical Defense Program Review.
The event, in Arlington, Virginia, examined the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for those in the DHS chemical defense enterprise.
Through a series of panels and presentations, the review helped participants gain a better understanding of the implications of using AI and ML for chemical defense activities, from the threats they pose to the opportunities they offer.
Russell shared his perspective on the use of AI and ML in a training environment; specifically, how they might be used by educators to design dynamic curriculum for state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) first responders and, ultimately, “build SLTT chemical training competencies” in support of the national preparedness goal of a secure and resilient nation.
The review concluded earlier today.
