CDP superintendent participates in IAEM conference

Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) Superintendent, Tony Russell participated this week in the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia.

IAEM is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting the “Principles of Emergency Management.” It has more than 6,000 members worldwide whose goals are saving lives and protecting property and the environment during emergencies and disasters.

Russell served on a panel which discussed no-cost training. He was joined by Jesse Watkins, the interim director of National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service; and Michael Sharon, the chief of the Emergency Programs Division at the USDA Office of Homeland Security.

The panel highlighted the many training avenues throughout the nation where emergency managers and responders can gain valuable knowledge and skills with no additional cost to their organization.

They also discussed the various training modalities which are available, including resident, non-resident, indirect, virtual and online training.

Editor’s Note:

CDP training is fully funded for state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, to include roundtrip airfare, meals and lodging.
