CDP supports cities hosting 2020 Presidential Debates
When the 2020 presidential candidates square off in debates this fall, they’ll have FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness among those to thank for ensuring they are safe during their time in each host city.
That’s because the CDP has provided advanced skills training to hundreds of responders from the Cleveland, Miami and Nashville metropolitan areas, some in direct preparation for the events which are expected to draw numerous outsiders to each host city. The training has been conducted both on the CDP campus in Anniston, AL, and in or near the host cities, and involved responders in a range of disciplines, from law enforcement officers and medical specialists to firefighters and emergency managers.
That’s nothing new for the Center for Domestic Preparedness.
The CDP routinely supports states and local jurisdictions as they prepare to host National Special Security Events such as the Super Bowl, Democratic and Republican National Conventions and presidential inaugurations. National Special Security Events draw large crowds and television audiences and are considered by the Department of Homeland Security to be potential targets for terrorism or other criminal activity.
