CDP, Texas A&M produce pair of cyber safety PSAs

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, in partnership with Texas A&M University, has created two public service announcement-style videos aimed at helping responders stay safe in cyberspace.

The first video, which is about two minutes long, explains how responders’ computers, IPhones and other electronic devices create Exif data, such as the date, time and locations photos are taken, and how to protect that potentially-sensitive information from being released. The second video, which is also about two minutes long, is focused on ‘social engineering’ and things responders can do to protect themselves from phishing emails and other malicious tactics employed by cyber criminals. It’s available at the following link: https://youtu.be/EPmLeSGTubo 

While the videos were produced to help responders improve their cyber security posture, particularly now that the use of electronic devices to communicate is so widespread, “anyone can benefit from viewing them,” according to CDP curriculum developers.

More ‘cyber tip’ recordings may be created in the coming months, they added.
