CDP to create Student Welcome Center

If all goes as planned, work will be underway in the next few years on a major facelift of one of the Center for Domestic Preparedness’ largest structures.

The CDP is planning a complete overhaul of the main building at its Advanced Responder Training Complex. The building spans about 40,000 square feet.

Following construction, approximately one third of the structure will be a reception area to welcome responders who train at the center. The space will include a student commons area, complete with seating, information kiosks and refreshment and break rooms.

Another third of the building will be classrooms for training and the final third will be office space for the center’s Training and Education department.

CDP facility specialists say the redesign is currently in development and should be ready for the center to advertise for construction bids later this year.
