CDP to provide ‘virtual’ training to nursing students across Southeast
CDP to provide nursing students from southeast 'virtual' training on mass casualty response.
Nursing students at five colleges and universities will soon be on the receiving end of mass casualty response training provided by FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.
Agreements have been reached for nursing students from Jacksonville State, Samford, and Jefferson State universities in Alabama, Georgia College in Georgia, and Lee University in Tennessee to attend a virtual version of the CDP’s Emergency Medical Response Awareness course.
The eight-hour course teaches emergency medical responders and clinicians how to treat victims of an incident involving chemical or biological agents, radiation, or explosives, including how to triage victims at an incident site, in route to a medical facility, and at a hospital.
Completion of the course is a pre-requisite for responders to attend the CDP’s Healthcare Emergency Response Operations for CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives) Incidents course.
In all, approximately 250 nursing students will receive the training, which will be delivered in early and mid-October.
