CDP to release updated HMT course

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness will implement the final version of its revised Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) Course this spring.

The final version of HMT includes minor changes in timing and the addition of a small hazmat research exercise, requests resulting from the pilot version of the course last year.

It also continues to be consistent with the latest version of the National Fire Protection Association’s Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications, NFPA 1072. Alignment with NFPA 1072 provides responders a more detailed understanding of how to respond to various hazardous material incidents.
