CDP trains guardsmen from across the nation

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is assisting with the training of National Guardsmen from across the United States.

In June, about 100 members of the Missouri National Guard and Washington, D.C., Army National Guard completed training on the CDP campus.

The Missouri guardsmen’s training focused on law enforcement, including the CDP’s Field Force Operations, Field Force Extrication Tactics, and Law Enforcement Response Actions for CBRNE Incidents courses. Additional training is scheduled in July.

Soldiers from Washington, D.C., attended the center’s Disaster Related Exposure Assessment and Monitoring Course. Additional training is scheduled in August.

CDP training, based on real-world scenarios, enables participants to gain confidence in their equipment and teams, as well as how to respond effectively to a wide range of incidents.

In a typical year, more than 1,000 National Guardsmen attend CDP training. This includes guardsmen in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
