CDP trains responders in advance of 2020 Democratic National Convention
More than 100 medical professionals from Wisconsin attended training April 29 to May 3 on the CDP campus in Anniston, Ala.
The group of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals are all employed by the Wisconsin Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition, which coordinates how public health, healthcare, and first responder agencies such as police, fire and emergency medical services in the state respond to emergencies.
The members attended one of three different courses – Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents (HCL), Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT), and Emergency Medical Operations for CBRNE Incidents (EMO).
They also participated in an Integrated Capstone Event, or ICE – a full-scale exercise at the end of the week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to one or more simulated incidents patterned after recent real-world events.
The training the Wisconsin group received was well timed. Milwaukee is the site of the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
