CDP updates HID course

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness recently revised its popular Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease (HID) Course.

The revision incorporates lessons learned and best practices from the Covid-19 pandemic, including new practical exercises which more accurately reflect real-world events and are more relevant.

Additionally, the instructor to student ratio for the course has been increased to five instructors for every 32 students, which provides for more focused instruction.

HID is a four-day resident course designed to teach healthcare responders how to safely triage, transport and treat individuals with highly infectious diseases. It includes both classroom work and extensive hands-on training in a modern isolation ward.

The updated version of the offering is expected to be implemented later this month.
