CDP updating healthcare emergency management course

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is updating its Framework for Healthcare Emergency Management (FRAME) course, better aligning it with current healthcare emergency management practices, modern regulatory requirements and lessons learned from recent disasters, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

To reflect the changes made to the curriculum, the CDP is changing the course name to Healthcare Disaster Emergency Planning (HDEP). This updated course places greater emphasis on developing practical planning products, integrating healthcare-specific incident management, expanding recovery and resource management concepts and engaging students through interactive exercises and scenario-based learning.

Small group work will begin earlier in the course, enabling students to engage with their fellow responders while troubleshooting incident response scenarios.

The course changes are currently being implemented in scheduled iterations of the FRAME course and students should expect to see the new course name later this year.
