CDP welcomes ‘revamped’ Instructor Training Course

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness this week unveiled an updated version of its popular Instructor Training Course.

The course is geared at responders who are or will be an instructor, trainer or coach for their organization.  Many graduates of ITC go on to teach CDP courses they have also attended.

While the course has been condensed from 40 to 32 hours, it actually is more intense since the same amount of material is provided to students in a shorter amount of time.  Additionally, the course is now more ‘experiential-based’ or hands on, with students delivering classes of various lengths and using multiple forms of media to facilitate at least one large-group activity.

The course is normally offered 6 to 8 times a year.  The typical class has from 24-30 students.
