CDP would play key role in potential CBRNE Center of Excellence
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is looking to cultivate its partnerships with the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) and FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute and develop a virtual Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, Radiological and Explosive (CBNRE) Center of Excellence (CoE).
Discussions are in the early stages. But, if it comes to fruition, the CDP, with its history of CBRNE training for first responders, would likely play an integral role in providing content and instructional expertise to the CoE.
HHI is an academic and research center which focuses on humanitarian issues and leadership. It is based at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
EMI develops and delivers training to ensure individuals and groups with key emergency management responsibilities, including FEMA employees, possess the requisite skills to effectively perform their jobs.
The CDP provides advanced, all-hazards training to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders in 17 different disciplines. The scope of training includes preparedness, protection, and response.
