CDP wraps up annual tribal-focused training
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) concludes the virtual portion of its annual Tribal Nations Training Week today.
The resident portion of the training was conducted March 12-17 on the CDP campus in Anniston, Alabama, with 216 tribal leaders and responders taking one or more of 29 different offerings.
This was immediately followed by two weeks of virtual courses on topics ranging from tactical decontamination and active shooter behavioral indicators to community policing, infectious diseases, and partnering with voluntary organizations during disaster response and recovery.
More than 140 tribal responders participated in the virtual component.
The CDP conducted its first Tribal Nations Training Week in 2016. The yearly event is open to anyone who works in an emergency response capacity and is affiliated with one or more tribal nations or the Indian Health Service.
In addition to Tribal Nations Training Week, tribal responders are reminded that the CDP delivers resident and non-resident courses, as well as online offerings, throughout the year.
All CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
