CDP wraps up annual Tribal Nations Training Week
The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) today wrapped its annual Tribal Nations Training Week.
More than 300 students – the most ever – attended the event, which included training in emergency management and healthcare preparedness and response. The students represented 108 different tribal nations.
The week of instruction and networking began Sunday with a formal opening ceremony featuring remarks from FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell. It also featured an executive session for tribal leaders or their designated representatives; a closed listening session for all attendees; and workshops presented by FEMA and several of its federal partners.
The theme of the week – ‘Developing Generational Resiliency Through Training’ – was established by a working group comprised of tribal nations responders and representatives from the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NPDC) – which includes the CDP – and the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium. The group identified training gaps, then selected courses in the NDPC and RDPC catalogs for the week which could help close those gaps.
On Monday, the CDP will kick off two weeks of virtual training geared specifically for those in or directly supporting tribal nations. For more information on the virtual courses being offered, visit: https://www.fema.gov/event/tribal-nations-virtual-training-week.
