COBRA Blood Lab undergoes compliance inspection
The CDP’s COBRA (Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological) Training Facility underwent another compliance inspection today – this time an assessment of its blood lab by an inspector from the Army’s Public Health Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
The routine inspection, which is conducted in accordance with a memorandum of agreement between the departments of Homeland Security and Defense, provides an independent and in-depth evaluation of the lab, from how it handles and tests blood samples to how it manages its records. It ensures the facility is functioning in accordance with the latest applicable government guidelines for safe, accurate lab operations.
It also improves overall operations at the COBRATF, as the inspector routinely shares ‘best practices’ from other reviews he or she has conducted.
The COBRATF should receive the formal inspection report in a couple of weeks.
