COBRA Training Facility prepares for bay upgrades
The Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological (COBRA) Training Facility at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness will soon start integrating new themes into its training bays.
To make way for these upgrades, training with nerve agents and biological materials at the facility has been suspended. This suspension will allow the center to decontaminate the bays and ensure the safety of general contractors working on the project.
Changes to the facility are expected to take about six months.
Once complete, the bays will feature more dynamic and challenging scenarios.
The COBRA Training Facility is the only place in the country where civilian responders train with hazardous biological materials and toxic chemical agents.
