COBRA Training Facility undergoes virtual compliance inspection
The Center for Domestic Preparedness’ Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility is preparing to undergo its annual Chemical Agent Standard Analytical Reference Material (CASARM) audit – one of several routine examinations of the facility by experts from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and other organizations.
A quality assurance team from the U.S. Army’s Chemical Biological Center will conduct the inspection in early May, which will involve the review of numerous administrative documents, structural items, and operational processes at the facility. Headquartered in Maryland, the Army center is the nation's premier authority on chemical and biological research, development, and defense.
The team normally provides the formal results of the audit to the CDP a few weeks following the review.
The CDP offers the only civilian training courses in the nation featuring chemical agents such as GB and VX and biological materials such as ricin (Ricin A Chain) and anthrax (Bacillus anthracis delta Sterne). The training increases first responders’ confidence to safely operate in environments with chemical, biological, and nuclear materials.
