Construction projects abound at CDP
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has numerous construction projects currently underway with several more planned to begin.
At the Responder Lodging Complex, the paving of the roadway through the area is currently ongoing. It is expected to be complete by this fall.
Renovation of one of the dorms in the lodging area has also begun. The renovation will include the installation of new carpet and furnishings, bathroom fixtures and security controls in each room, as well as a new heating and cooling system for the building. The new heating and cooling system will allow students to adjust the temperature of their individual rooms.
To ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, one room in the dorm will be prepared to ADA standards.
The renovations to Building 78 should be complete in late 2024.
Meanwhile, the brick facing of Noble Training Facility is currently being repaired and functional testing is underway on its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The facility’s parking lot is also being repaved; it should be completed this fall.
Demolition and hazardous material abatement is also proceeding on the main building of the CDP’s Advanced Responder Training Complex. When the project is complete, the building will serve as a reception area for responders training at the CDP as well as offices for CDP personnel. Those renovations are expected to be complete in late 2024.
Work is scheduled to begin later this month on the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility’s backup generator, which will ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of a power disruption at the facility.
Later this year, the interior of Building 61, the CDP’s main administrative building, will be repainted and repairs made to its roof. The remodeling of the security buildings at the Responder Lodging Complex and Building 61 is also set to begin.
