Demand remains high for CDP’s newest courses

The Center for Domestic Preparedness’ online courses continue to average approximately 500 course completions per month.

The CDP added four, free online courses to its training catalog in November, to provide responders with awareness-level knowledge about bomb threats and other hazardous materials. Through June, nearly 4,000 responders had completed the four courses.

The courses, which are offered in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Bombing Prevention, are titled Hazardous Materials Awareness Distance Learning, Hazardous Materials Awareness Refresher Distance Learning, Bomb Threat Preparedness and Response Computer-Based Training, and Homemade Explosive (HME) and Precursor Awareness for Public Safety.

The CDP trains more than 50,000 state, local, tribal and territorial responders each year via in-residence training on its campus in Anniston, Ala., at mobile training sites around the nation, and now through online training.

Since the CDP opened its doors in 1998, it has trained more than 1,100,000 responders.
