Eventful Tribal Nations Training Week planned in March

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is finalizing preparations for its 9th Annual Tribal Nations Training Week, scheduled for March 9-16, 2024.

The weeklong training event, with the theme ‘Developing Generational Resiliency Through Training,’ is open to state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) responders affiliated with one or more tribal nations or the Indian Health Service, as well as SLTT responders who work directly with tribal nations.

Healthcare courses planned for the week include the CDP’s Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents courses. Both courses will culminate with an Integrated Capstone Event or ICE – a comprehensive exercise where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together in response to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.

The CDP’s Environmental Health Training in Emergency Response – Operations will also be offered during the week, as will numerous courses from several other federal and federally-funded agencies, including FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute, the National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center, the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium, and the National Domestic Preparedness Training Center.

The week will also feature an executive session for tribal leaders or their designated representatives, a closed listening session for all attendees, and workshops presented by the CDP, RDPC and NERRTC.

The training is fully funded for state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, to include roundtrip airfare, meals, and lodging. To register for the week, email fema-easternregioncdp@fema.dhs.gov.
