Field force training a focus for Law Enforcement Theme Week at CDP
CDP to train law enforcement officers to respond to a variety of incidents during Law Enforcement Theme Week.
The Center for Domestic Preparedness will train law enforcement officers to respond to a variety of incidents during its Law Enforcement Theme Week, September 20-26 at the center’s Anniston, Alabama campus.
Half of the six training tracks during the week will concentrate on large-scale public safety events, crowd control situations, and civil unrest incidents.
Field Force Operations
The three-day FFO course teaches law enforcement and security officers about types of protests, legal consideration, constitutional rights of protestors, how to safely manage crowds, and other responsibilities of mobile field force teams. This course will be paired with the Drone Assessment and Response Tactics course during Law Enforcement Theme Week.
Field Force Extrication Tactics
The three-day course trains students to operate the tools necessary to safely extricate individuals from protester devices, while ensuring due process. The course culminates in a series of hands-on activities, allowing responders to practice skills in realistic scenarios. It will be paired with the Drone Assessment and Response Tactics course during Law Enforcement Theme Week.
Public Order and Public Safety: Basic
Through this course, students receive instruction in protest types and actions, legal considerations, responsibilities of public order units, and crowd control methods. The course culminates in hands-on activities that allow students to practice learned skills in a realistic context. It is paired with its Train-the-Trainer component and the Drone Assessment and Response Tactics course during Law Enforcement Theme Week.
The training week will culminate in a hands-on exercise involving all students applying their newly acquired skills to resolve simulated scenarios involving protests, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive incidents and terrorist threats in realistic training environments.

CDP training is completely funded for state, local, tribal and territorial emergency responders to include roundtrip airfare, meals, lodging, tuition and any equipment required during training.
