In the Spotlight: Jessica Burchett

Jessica Burchett joined the workforce at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) as a temperature screener in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Toward the end of that year, she transitioned into a classroom support role before moving to the CDP’s information technology team in September 2023.

Today, Burchett is the IT operations front desk and project coordinator. In that role, she works with employees who call the help desk and organizes the IT elements of various CDP projects and events.

Most of Burchett’s IT training has been received on the job, although she brought numerous customer service skills into the position.

“I’m an excellent organizer and I love working with people,” said Burchett.
