In the Spotlight: Amanda Stewart

Amanda Stewart has helped develop dozens of Center for Domestic Preparedness courses used to train responders in a variety of disciplines.

Stewart, who has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and computer science from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in education from Jacksonville State University, initially worked as a teacher before accepting an instructional development position with a commercial firm. She joined the CDP’s curriculum development team in 2009, where she has worked as a writer and instructional systems specialist and is now its lead instructional systems specialist.

Stewart said she loves learning new things and translating them into teachable models the center’s instructors can share with responders, calling it ‘a gift’ to be able to contribute to the nation’s preparedness.

“Being born and raised in this area, I am always proud to be tell friends and family about these efforts being made right here, in their community,” she added.
