In the Spotlight: Ann Sports
Ann Sports, an instructor at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness since 2015, has over 30 years of public health experience.
Sports holds a Bachelor of Science in health management with a concentration in disaster and emergency management. She served in a variety of different public health roles, including as a community liaison and coordinator in public health preparedness.
Throughout her career, Sports has assisted with several large-scale incidents and events, including Hurricane Katrina; the Haiti earthquake; the 2006 National Governor’s Conference; the 2014 and 2015 Cooper River Bridge Runs; and funeral services for the “Emanuel 9”, which were attended by the President, Vice President, and cabinet members.
“I believe that my experiences working in the health and medical section of the emergency operations center/command post and working on coalition development with hospitals, enable me to share valuable information with others who will respond to public health emergencies,” said Sports.
