In the Spotlight: Candy Waylock
A reporter and certified emergency manager in the Atlanta metro area, Candy Waylock also instructs classes for several government organizations, including Georgia’s Emergency Management Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Center for Domestic Preparedness.
An instructor for Federal Emergency Management Agency courses since 1992, Waylock currently teaches the CDP’s Managing Public Information for All-Hazards Incidents Course, where she draws extensively from her more than 25 years of experience as a broadcast journalist and from her years as the public information officer for the City of St. Louis Department of Public Safety. She delivers the training both in person and virtually.
“Training emergency responders is one of the most personally rewarding contributions I can make,” said Waylock. “I’m proud to know my experiences as a responder will be used by other responders to make better decisions during crises.”
