In the Spotlight: Charles Freeman
Charles Freeman has been a law enforcement instructor at the CDP since 2004, but his background in law enforcement extends for more than three decades and includes service with the military as well as state and local law enforcement.
He has over 15 years of experience as a hazardous device technician, also known as a bomb tech, and has thousands of hours of training in EOD, WMD and hazmat operations. During his career, Freeman has been involved in numerous federal, state and local investigations related to explosives.
Freeman has participated in several national events, including three Super Bowls, and the 2017 Republican National Convention. He served as the senior bomb technician at various venues within the Tampa Bay region, including numerous VIP details and large events.
“The key is not the will to win; everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important,” said Freeman. “I believe students learn through doing. Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will understand.”
