In the Spotlight: Daniel Rodriguez

An instructor at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, Daniel Rodriguez has been a police officer for more than 32 years and currently serves as commander of his department’s special operations division in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Rodriguez has served in a variety of positions throughout his law enforcement career, including training academy commander, narcotics detective, and SWAT team member, leader, and commander. He has also served in several roles on his agency’s mobile field force.

His résumé also includes work on several national incidents – including the 9-11 terrorist attacks – and four Presidential inaugurations.

Rodriguez has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland. Prior to beginning his civilian law enforcement career, he served in the U.S. Army’s Military Police Corps.

“It has been said that, during critical incidents, we don’t rise to the occasion, but rather we fall back on our level of training,” said Rodriguez. “I am honored to be able to use my training, knowledge and lessons learned through my past experiences to help other responders be better prepared for future events.”
