In the Spotlight: Dorothy Ping

Later this year, Dorothy Ping, better known to most people as Dot, will celebrate 20 years of working at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP).

Ping began her career at the CDP in Student Services, performing data entry as a registrar’s clerk. She then moved to the indirect training team in 2006, where she served for more than eight years before being selected to be the work order manager. During her time on the indirect training team, she also completed her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Warren National University.

As work order manager, Ping is responsible for tracking labor costs and hours related to some of the contracted student support employees of the CDP. It’s a job which requires knowledge of many of areas of training and student support at the center.

Though much of her work at the CDP has been behind-the-scenes, Ping has gotten to interact with students during in-processing and graduation, as well as at conferences she has attended throughout her career.

“It’s nice to work with people who enjoy their jobs and know their jobs have a purpose,” she said.
