In the Spotlight: Jacob Clark

In addition to being a hazardous materials instructor at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, Jacob Clark is a lieutenant on the Hazardous Materials Response Team in Cobb County, Georgia.

Clark, who has a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and associates degree in fire science, has been a firefighter/EMT since 2007 with Cobb County’s Fire and Emergency Services.

During his career, he has responded to numerous incidents which involved the release of industrial chemicals and other hazardous materials. He has also worked with several teams in his area training and supporting potential weapons of mass destruction response.  These groups were responsible for ensuring the safety of those attending various Major League Baseball events from 2018 to 2022, including the World Series in Atlanta’s Truist Park, and trained with regional response teams for the 2019 Super Bowl in that city’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

During previous events, Clark performed in incident command, and as a tactical response supervisor, operations branch supervisor and decon/entry leader.

“I love coming to teach with such a diverse group of students and instructors from all over the nation. It helps me inspire confidence in students that first responders are trying their best to be unified- and response-ready, with the best training available.

“There is a wealth of knowledge in this organization that is invaluable to our nation. What an honor to serve with the best,” he added.
