In the Spotlight: Jamie Goode
A firefighter and rescue specialist in Michigan, Jamie Goode brings more than 20 years of on-the-job experience to his duties as an instructor for FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.
His background includes a mix of on call and full-time experience in municipal and industrial firefighting, as well as contract rescue work.
Goode currently serves as a hazmat security sergeant for the Great Lakes Water Authority. In that role, he is responsible for conducting training, mitigating hazardous materials releases, performing confined space and rope rescues, and protecting the area’s critical infrastructure in accordance with federal chemical facility anti-terrorism standards. In addition to his responsibilities at GLWA, he is the special operations and training lieutenant for the Sumpter Township Fire Department, a member of the Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue teams and an adjunct instructor for the Michigan State Police’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division.
“Every training (session) I conduct makes me proud to know my professional experience, both good and bad, helps prepare responders for what may happen in the future,” said Goode.
