In the Spotlight: Jessica Martin

For Jessica Martin, a temporary assignment at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in 2019 quickly turned into a full-time career as the human resources manager for the student services contract employees.

The initial assignment was only supposed to be three months, but before that time was up, Martin was offered a permanent role as the liaison and HR manager between the CDP’s student services contract employees and the companies which employ them.

Martin has a background in managing organizations and assisting employees. After earning her bachelor’s degree in exercise science, with a minor in nutrition, from Jacksonville State University, she spent a decade working in Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center’s occupational health clinic, eventually moving into the role of clinic manager along with the duties of managing the hospital’s employee health clinic.

She said from her first day at the CDP she felt welcomed by the friendly atmosphere.

“I enjoy my job and I love getting up and going to work every day to support the employees,” said Martin.
