In the Spotlight: Johnnie Richardson
For Johnnie Richardson, accepting a job at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in 2018 was a little like coming home.
Richardson, who serves as a program specialist in the center’s Training and Education directorate, was the senior training developer and chief instructor/writer for the U.S. Army’s Chemical School from 1995-1999, just prior to his retirement from the Army after 21 years of service. The school moved from Anniston, Alabama, to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in 1999.
“Being assigned as the chief instructor/writer and senior training developer prepared me for all future training careers,” said Richardson.
Following his stint with the Chemical School, Richardson worked as a training manager and project lead, environmental health and safety manager, and workforce development training manager for various commercial organizations.
He’s also worked hard on continuing his own education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Faulkner University, a master’s degree in public administration from Jacksonville State University, a master’s degree in training and leadership development from North Central University, and is a certified professional in training management. Earlier this year, he earned his Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate from the University of South Florida’s Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education.
“Working at the CDP has allowed me to continue to serve and train those who consistently place themselves in harm’s way while caring for others,” said Richardson.
