In the Spotlight: Julie Cavender
Julie Cavender wears several hats at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), including quality manager and environmental health and safety manager for its medical support services contract, which helps ensure the health and safety of students and instructors while on campus.
Cavender, who has a master’s degree in biology from nearby Jacksonville State University, has worked at the CDP since 2006 and been in her current role the last 10 years.
She previously worked at Anniston Army Depot as a researcher with the Oakridge Institute for Science and Education, where she focused on pollution prevention and standing up the depot’s environmental management system.
Cavender said the best part of her job is her work family.
“We are an awesome team!” she said. “We inspire, drive and support each other to get the job done.”
