In the Spotlight: Michael Dunlevy

Since 2015, Michael Dunlevy has been an instructor at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, specializing in pre-hospital emergency response to mass casualty incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials.

He’s also an active member of the U.S. National Disaster Medical System where, among other things, he serves as an instructor for Active Shooter Rescue Task Force operations and field medical tactics.

Dunlevy brings a wealth of experience to both roles.

During his career he has worn many first responder hats – fireman/medic, public safety diver, technical rescue specialist and certified flight medic.

For the last two years, he has also served as a senior technical advisor and nuclear security/chemical weapons of mass destruction subject matter expert for curriculum, training, and exercise development at the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ Hazardous Devices School.

Dunlevy said he’s proud to share his experience with others.

That’s because “We don’t rise to the occasion; we fall to our highest level of training,” he said.
