In the Spotlight: Michelle Hammond

Michelle Hammond began assisting students at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in 2013, after working in retail store operations for more than a decade.

That background with customer service has served her well at the center. She began as a travel clerk, accepted the role of registrar clerk about four years later, then moved to the non-resident and indirect training team – first working as a clerk and, since 2019, as an indirect training specialist.

As part of the three-member Indirect Training Support Team, Hammond supports indirect training for the CDP and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Bombing Prevention, ensuring trainers have everything they need to conduct successful classes.

Hammond and her teammates meet the indirect trainers during their train-the-trainer courses. There, they provide them more details about the indirect training program, including how to schedule classes and request instructional materials.

“I enjoy getting to know the trainers and supporting their trainings,” said Hammond. “Their stories are remarkable.”
