In the Spotlight: Rachel Gregory
A financial management specialist, Rachel Gregory has been a federal employee more than 30 years, the last 11 at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.
She says her time with the center and agency has been the most exciting of her career.
“There’s a lot to be learned here, professionally and personally,” she explained.
“This has been an excellent opportunity to learn more about finance but also to learn about emergency management,” she added.
Gregory’s deployment to New York City in 2012 in response to Hurricane Sandy led her to be better prepared for any incident or disaster. That paid off a few years later when a sudden snowstorm made it difficult for her to travel home and she was able to survive by using the blankets and food in her own emergency kit.
She now advocates for others to be prepared.
“Being part of this organization, maybe I can give back,” she said.
