In the Spotlight: Robye Burns
A skilled registered nurse for 20 years, Robye Burns has worked as an instructor and course lead at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness for three years.
She is the lead instructor for the Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease (HID) course, teaching healthcare providers to safely treat patients with a highly infectious disease while reducing the risk of infection to others.
In addition to teaching various healthcare-related courses at the CDP, Burns works as a wound care nurse and infection control supervisor for a local long-term care and rehabilitation facility.
She was part of the COVID 19 expeditionary training for Fire, EMS, public safety and hospitals in her county and currently serves on her employer’s preparation committee for emergency response.
“I believe it is everyone’s responsibility to be prepared for emergencies. I am honored to share experiences with others in hopes of better preparing them for any emergency they may face,” said Burns.
