In the Spotlight: Sarah Henderson

As the biologist for FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, Sarah Henderson oversees the hazardous biological materials the center uses in its training.

Henderson says the work is rewarding.

“Our first responders are such a precious asset,” she said. “I feel our training is incredibly beneficial to them and, by extension, to our nation.”

After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, Henderson taught high school biology for nine years while also earning her master’s degree in secondary education.

In 2018, she joined the CDP as a lab tech. She was promoted to her current position a year later.
