In the Spotlight: Scott Davonski

In addition to being a hazardous materials instructor for FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness the past four years, Scott Davonski is the deputy fire chief for a federal research facility, a deputy chief instructor at the Suffolk County, New York, Fire Academy, and an instructional coordinator with the Suffolk County Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services Division.

He has been in the fire and emergency services fields for more than 30 years and, in that time, has responded to several national incidents, including Super Storm Sandy and the crash of TWA Flight 800.

Davonski has also supervised the response to numerous hazardous materials incidents and was an integral part of the incident command system for the 2004 and 2018 U.S. Open golf championships.

Davonski holds multiple Pro-Board certifications, including Fire Officer IV. He is currently working toward his master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Emergency Management from Waldorf University.

“I strive to emulate all the great instructors I have had the privilege of learning from and share those traits, knowledge and experiences with my students,” he said.
