In the Spotlight: William Ford

William Ford has been ensuring students get to class on time most of his life.

A bus driver for FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness, Ford began transporting students as a school bus driver more than 70 years ago, when he was 16.

He joined the CDP part-time about 15 years ago, initially shuttling students to their dorms after class and to local businesses and restaurants in the evening. But he quickly moved to full-time when he realized how much he enjoyed meeting responders from throughout the country and seeing the familiar faces of those making repeat visits to campus.

“Our assignment is to get students where they need to be, when they need to be there. I think our department takes that seriously and does a good job,” said Ford.
