Number of responders who’ve completed CDP online courses continues to rise
Responders can take any one of five online CDP courses.
The number of responders who have completed online Center for Domestic Preparedness courses continues to spiral upward.
About 500 responders a month completed at least one online course between November of 2018 – when the courses were first available – and June of 2019. Since then, about 1,000 responders a month have completed at least one online course.
Taken as a whole, nearly 14,000 responders have completed one of the CDP’s five, free online courses that provide awareness-level information about bomb threats, environmental health response, and hazardous materials.
The courses, some of which are offered in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Bombing Prevention, are titled Bomb Threat Preparedness and Response Computer-Based Training, Environmental Health Training in Emergency Response, Hazardous Materials Awareness Distance Learning, Hazardous Materials Awareness Refresher Distance Learning, and Homemade Explosive and Precursor Awareness for Public Safety.
The CDP trains more than 50,000 state, local, tribal and territorial responders each year on its campus in Anniston, Ala., at mobile training sites around the nation, and through online training.
Since the CDP opened its doors in 1998, it has trained more than 1,200,000 responders.
