Renovation continues at CDP’s ARTC, dorm

A multi-use facility is under construction with a planned completion date in late 2025 at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP).

The new facility, located in the CDP’s Advanced Responder Training Complex, will house offices for the center’s training staff as well as a welcome center and instructional space for students.

Renovation of the building is currently in the “fit-in” phase, where the internal structure of the building begins to take shape.

Across campus, at the Responder Lodging Complex, renovations are underway at one of the dorms. The facility modernization includes a new heating and cooling system, new carpet and furnishings, bathroom fixtures and security controls. Additionally, to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, rooms in the dorm are being prepared to ADA standards and an elevator is being installed.

Recently completed projects include the paving of parking lots at the Noble Training Facility (NTF), outside FEMA’s Incident Workforce Academy (FIWA), and in front of the CDP’s main building. The lots were repaved using Thin Concrete Pavement (TCP) – a fiber-reinforced, low-maintenance concrete which doesn’t retain as much heat as and has a longer lifespan than asphalt.
