Snapshot: Capstone Event

Healthcare responders practice receiving ambulatory patients at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness for triage, decontamination and treatment. During Capstone Events, at the conclusion of the CDP’s Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT) and Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents (HCL) courses, students practice skills learned with simulated injured individuals of a hazardous materials incident. These capstone events are comprehensive exercises incorporating high fidelity mannequins and role players to replicate real world mass casualty incidents. For additional information about the HERT and HCL courses, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/course/PER-902 (HERT) and https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/course/MGT-901 (HCL).
