Snapshot: Treating highly infectious patients

Healthcare students practice skills needed to safely treat patients in the Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease (HID) course at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). The four-day offering teaches healthcare providers to safely triage, transport and treat patients with a highly infectious disease, while reducing the risk of spreading infection to others. The CDP recently reinstated this course and is authorized to award 3.2 CEUs for it by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training.
